Habs To Pick 25th

The Montreal Canadiens are going to pick 25th in the draft this year, or are they? Seeing as the draft will be better next year, will the Habs make something happen on draft day?

The Habs have the 25 spot, but will they keep it? There is a player which could interest the Canadiens, his name is Colin Wilson. Unfortunately, he will be taken early in the draft, perhaps as early as seventh, so the Habs would have to make some trades to get that spot.

There have been some rumours in Montreal that Jaroslav Halak would like to play more next year. The Slovak goalie is right, but how much more is the question, as it is clear that Carey Price will be no.1 for a while. Does Halak want more than 25 games? If so then look for the Canadiens to deal him, and possibly someone else to get a higher pick.

At 6′1″ and 215 pounds, he is the type of player that the Habs should be looking for. Wilson is a mix of skill, and speed, but is also a very good size for the NHL.

The only way for the Habs to get him is to move some bodies, and picks. Will they do this, or stay where they are in the draft, but still make some changes as all the gm’s will be at the draft?

Either way, the Canadiens are almost forced to acquire someone this year, to complete the puzzle before the centennial starts. Perhaps the Habs had no pressure this season as they were picked not to make the post season, but next season there will be a lot of pressure on the Habs, so they will have to bite the bullet and get someone in there.

The draft should be decent to watch this year, and you never know what will happen during the draft.
