Koivu Back On Saturday?

RDS is reporting that Montreal Canadiens forward Saku Koivu could make his first play-off appearance this year on Saturday to help the Habs close the series.

Le Journal de Montreal is also reporting the same story. Koivu has skated for the past three days, and will practice with the team on Saturday.

Tony Marinaro of the Team 990 am in Montreal, has also stipulated that he would be surprised if Koivu did not play on Saturday.

Saku Koivu’s return is much anticipated by all, fans, media, the Habs themselves, and the broadcasters. However, Koivu has only been skating for three days, and will take part in his first team practice on Saturday, will Koivu’s return if it is on Saturday, be too soon, will he injure another part of his body as he is not as limber as everyone else?

Coach Guy Carbonneau stated that the doctors aren’t stopping Koivu, and that Koivu is a veteran, having played injured before, and knows what he has to do on the ice, so if Koivu says he can play, Carbo will be more than happy to accommodate him.

Hey, I’m all for it. It will be a good sight for the team, and from various interviews the team would get a moral lift if he came back. Apparently, the team is talking like Koivu will play on Saturday, and they are excited. I’m sure that if Koivu does play, everyone will be watching him closely to see if he injures another part of his body. When a player comes back from injury too soon without the proper training, he could pull his groin, or pull some muscles, let’s hope that this will not be the case.

Koivu’s return albeit possibly a little forced by himself, would be a good thing, and if the Habs manage to close out the series on Saturday, they will have a couple of days rest, and more time for Koivu to properly be fully ready for action. I have to state that Koivu is a play-off guy, it doesn’t matter if he is injured, he still plays, good for him, I just hope he doesn’t get injured again.
