Koivu Back On Skates

RDS is reporting that Montreal Canadiens forward Saku Koivu was skating on Wednesday at the Bell Centre, and will definitely be ready should the Canadiens move on to the second round of the post season, and could possibly be ready for game 6 on Saturday if the Boston Bruins push it that far, or game 7 on Monday if necessary.

On the Montreal radio station 990 am today, a story was told that a Montreal Gazette reporter saw Koivu skating on his own, the report also said that Koivu skated before the team did, but failed to mention how long he skated for, or what types of drills Koivu did if any.

This is a good omen for the Habs, that their team captain is just about ready, and it will be good for the whole team when Koivu is able to come back. Koivu will have rested for the better part of three weeks, and should have more than enough energy to play in the play-offs after he quickly gets his mobility, and timing back. Perhaps Koivu coming back will also make the power-play better as the Habs have only scored 2 goals on the pp during the whole series so far.

Saku Koivu so far has been out of the line-up for three weeks. Hopefully the Habs will not need him on Thursday to take care of the Bruins and give him a few more days to completely heal. Although the Canadiens would be a complete team when he comes back, with the exception of Francis Bouillon who is still awaiting the green light from the doctors, it is hoped that the Habs will be able to close the series on Thursday and have some time to heal the teams bruises.

Regardless, it is still good news for the team, and the fans to know that their captain will be back soon, and will be able to start the next round of the post season.
