Samsonov wants out of Montreal

TSN is reporting that Neil Abbott, the agent for Canadiens forward Sergei Samsonov has made it public that his client would like a trade out of Montreal.

It’s believed that Samsonov’s decision to ask for a trade came after being a healthy scratch from the Canadiens’ lineup last Sunday.

Abbott also says that he is not happy his client “is being portrayed as the primary problem with the Canadiens,” even if the forward has not produced as expected. So, “the best solution for all would be for a deal before the February 27 trade deadline.”

“Being scratched two games in a row, you’re getting a clear answer that you’re a problem, so maybe it’s the best solution for both parties,” Samsonov told reporters after a team skate Tuesday morning.

The report also suggests that rumors out of Chicago have the Blackhawks dealing defenseman Adrian Aucoin and Centrex Bryan Smolinski to the Canadiens in exchange for Samsonov and defenseman Craig Rivet.

While the Canadiens did not trade Samsonov, they did place him on waivers on Tuesday.
