I believe you are off in your opinion and your understanding of who is creating these rumors in Montreal. It is completely unfair to say that the loyal Hab fans of MTL are to blame for creating these rumors. As a Detroit fan it may be difficult to understand that so many fans would like to comment on rumors that begin in the media. It would be almost impossible to put a number on the amount of MTL hockey fans there are on this planet. I live almost 2000kms away from the city and make the pilgrimage at least once a season and, never miss a game on television(thank you RDS, I don't speak french either). The Bell center is sold out night after night, all of these people have an opinion and many choose to express it in the various forums which are avaliable. As for these fans getting on Mr. Gainey's nerves, that statement is as illogical as saying the Toronto Maple Leafs are going to win the Cup this year. Fan input and comments concerning trade rumors show management that the loyal Hab fan base is solid and unwavering. For an intelligent man such a Bob Gainey this input and info serves only as motivation. With last year's first place finish in the regular season and the centennial there are lots of people on the bandwagon, Bob has been creating this frenzy for years now. This may not be our year but the general feeling that has been created in the city(fanbase) and the team(future is bright) is only benificial. Eventually Bob will bring the Cup home where it belongs and I'm sure Pierre McGuire and Bob McKenzie will continue to shoot their mouths off until then.
