I don't believe that Grabs will be in Montreal for much longer, either he'll be traded, or go on his own, maybe not this year, but soon, I'm simply suggesting that the Habs are keeping him as insurance for now, not that he will replace anyone. I stated that if he would play, he would have to replace someone, which is not the case.

Sure, but even when he hits RFA next offseason, why would the Habs be in any hurry to move him? Grabovski didn't look too good in his short stint with the big club this season, but obviously in a more prominent role he could be good... Still don't think of him as replacing Plekanec, although maybe Koivu (in a positional sense, not in leadership - which I think is questionable for even Koivu...)

Well, what I wrote was that right now, there is no room for Grabs, because Plekanec is playing so well.

Curious: Why would Grabovski replace Plekanec? Dude's only going to be RFA after next season, so what's the rush? Besides, Plekanec is one of Montreal's best players, so getting rid of him via trade seems kinda stupid...

Brisebois is a guy I might keep around, just because he plays for very little money, and can still contribute a little bit...

Finally, I wouldn't be holding my breath if I'm a Habs fan... Kovalchuk leaving Atlanta would almost certainly be a death-rattle for the Thrashers, and I'm sure they realize that. Not a chance they let him go any time soon, unless they are willing to fold up their team. Besides, who could Montreal realistically send them who would be EQUAL in value to what Kovalchuk brings? Exactly - NOTHING.
