Carter not rushing to re-sign with Flyers
Philadelphia Flyers pending restricted free agent forward Jeff Carter tells Wayne Fish of the Philly Burbs that he’s not in a rush to sign a contract extension.
While the Flyers did attempt to begin negotiations on a new contract with their young forward, Carter’s in no hurry to get a deal done. As an RFA, Carter is clearly in the driver’s seat, and he knows it.
That’s not to say that Carter won’t listen if the Flyers make him an offer, though.
“I don’t really care,” Carter said. “They’re going to do it when they do it. I can’t worry about that. It’s up for them to decide.”
And so, Carter says his thoughts remain on playing the game. Not what may or may not happen in the future.
“There’s nothing I can do about it, just go out and play,” Carter said at Friday morning’s skate. “It doesn’t really matter to me.”
Carter is currently making $942,400, but could get upwards of $3 million per season.
“I can’t lose sleep over it. I just have to go out and play my game. If it happens, it happens.”
