Clymer on shaky ground in Washington
According to Washington Post’s Tarik El-Bashir, Washington Capitals forward Ben Clymer could be traded if he doesn’t make the team out of training camp.
As a matter of fact, Clymer thought he would be moved during the off-season after a poor 2006-07 campaign in which he only registered seven goals and 13 assists. Clymer tells El-Bashir that he is still unsure what his future with the club will hold.
“That was my mind-set over the summer,” he said. “I don’t know what their plans are for me. I’m in a weird situation. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone else.”
El-Bashir suggests that Clymer could be traded to a team “seeking reliable checking-line wing who possesses agitator qualities and is willing to scrap when provoked” if he doesn’t make the team out of training camp.
Clymer is in the second year of a three year deal he signed in 2006. He is set to earn $1 million this season and $1.1 million next season.
