Is Lindros done?
Terry Frei writes on ESPN.com that Eric Lindros’ playing future in the NHL may be coming to an end, if it hasn’t already.
Lindros, an unrestricted free agent, isn’t “on a preseason roster” and it doesn’t appear that “any NHL team would give him another chance” this season after his poor showing during the last two seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs (2005-06) and the Dallas Stars (last season).
Teams may also feel that it wouldn’t be worth it to take a chance on Lindros considering all the injuries he has sustained during his career: multiple concussions, a collapsed lung, wrist problems and last season’s groin injury.
And then there is the fact that the 34-year-old Lindros is not old enough to receive “an incentive- and condition-laden” contract.
All in all, Frei believes that Lindros is pretty much done.
Especially since Lindros may not be so interested in coming back. The 34-year-old Lindros has been “spending much of his time on NHL Players’ Association business” and doesn’t appear to eager to return to the ice.
