More to come from Islanders?
Greg Logan of Newsday reports that the New York Islanders are looking at making some more roster changes before the season starts.
With the signing defenseman Andy Sutton to a three-year, $9 million on Friday, Logan suggests that “rumors the Islanders are interested in trading for more defensive help” should be put to rest.
However, Logan expects that Islanders GM Garth Snow will focus on bringing in a center “within the next week.”
Possible candidates include unrestricted free agents Josef Vasicek, Jason Allison and Peter Forsberg.
Vasicek is said to be the “prime target,” though there is some interest in Allison, too.
As for Forsberg, it may be a while until he’s ready to sign with an NHL team. The Swedish forward is yet to fully recover from foot problems, and may not sign “until sometime during the season.”
