Stars deny Turco-for-St. Louis talks
Dallas Stars co-GM Les Jackson tells Mike Heika of The Dallas Morning News that he has no intentions of trading goalie Marty Turco for Tampa Bay Lightning forward Martin St. Louis.
“I don’t like to talk about rumors. But in regard to Turco, the first thing about that is, I don’t want to trade him. And the second thing is, I really have no plans to trade him,” Jackson said.
Jackson says that Turco is a major part of the team, so there’s no need to trade him.
“Marty is the backbone of our team, on the ice and in the locker room,” Jackson said. “He’s one of best leaders we have, and a lot of what we do revolves around him.”
But that’s not to say Jackson and co-GM Brett Hull aren’t exploring ways to improve their roster via the trade market. They’re looking to make some moves, but, for now, nothing has intrigued them.
“It has to be the right deal, and the right deal is hard to find,” Jackson said. “There are a lot of factors that are involved.”
Just don’t expect any changes in net. The Stars are happy with their goaltending.
“It’s the most important position in the game, and we’re in good shape there,” Jackson said.
