Danis, McLennan, Tanabe, Redden, Maple Leafs, Bryzgalov, and Bouchard
Could Yann Danis find his way out of Montreal? Is Jamie McLennan hoping to re-sign with a former team? Can Dave Tanabe stick with the Blues? Will Wade Redden finish the season with the Senators? Which defenseman may the Maple Leafs shop? Will the Ducks trade Ilya Bryzgalov this season? Which team is Joel Bouchard trying to win a job with?
Pat Hickey of The Montreal Gazette believes that while goaltender Yann Danis is having a great camp with the Montreal Canadiens, he will not make the team.
Since the Canadiens would have to place him on waivers before demoting him to the AHL, Hickey suggests that Danis could be traded.
According to Miami Herald’s George Richards, unrestricted free agent goalie Jamie McLennan is hoping to catch on with the Calgary Flames again, after his contract with a team from the Russian Super League was dissolved.
Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that UFA defenseman Dave Tanabe is still trying to win jobs with the St. Louis Blues. However, Tanabe doesn’t think he’ll stick around once the regular season gets underway.
“With how many (defensemen) they have here, I probably had a better opportunity to go other places,” said Tanabe.
The Score TV station is reporting on their website that the Ottawa Senators will try to trade pending UFA defenseman Wade Redden before the trade deadline.
The Score also suggests that the Toronto Maple Leafs will likely trade one of their many offensive defensemen, namely Pavel Kubina or Carlo Colaiacovo, during the upcoming season.
Another prediction by The Score has the Anaheim Ducks trading back-up goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov by mid-season.
UFA defenseman Joel Bouchard is hoping to land a job with the Columbus Blue Jackets, according to Tom Reed of The Columbus Dispatch. Bouchard is on a tryout contract with the Blue Jackets.
