Ducks, Hurricanes, and Selanne
Which pending RFAs are the Ducks trying to re-sign? Will the Hurricanes add a blueliner to replace the injured Frantisek Kaberle? Has Teemu Selanne decided if he’ll play next season?
After re-signing forward Chris Kunitz to a contract Monday, Dan Wood of the Orange County Register reports that Anaheim Ducks GM Brian Burke will now focus on getting pending restricted free agent forwards Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry under contract past this season.
Despite having defenseman Frantisek Kaberle out for the the first week of training camp after undergoing surgery, Luke DeCock of The News & Observer reports that Carolina Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford won’t “add any depth” to his blueline “unless it’s needed during training camp.”
Teemu Selanne’s agent, Don Baizley, tells the Edmonton Sun that his client hasn’t made a decision on his playing future just yet.
“Selanne has promised to let me know once he’s made a decision and he hasn’t yet. It’s that simple,” said Baizley.
