According to John Dellapina of the New York Daily News, the New York Rangers will promote Jim Schoenfeld to assistant GM.
Schoenfeld is said to have been an integral force behind the Rangers’ “decision-making process” in signing unrestricted free agent forwards Scott Gomez and Chris Drury.
Currently the GM of the Rangers’ AHL affiliate in Hartford, Schoenfeld will retain that title but will hand over the reigns as the farm team’s head coach.
Schoenfeld is a former head coach of the New Jersey Devils.
