The Roots of the Beard

“Nobody can be successful if he doesn’t love his work, love his job.” – David Sarnoff
And yes, I love this job. Thanks to Alin Mateescu and staff for bringing me to RMT.

Arguably, the best fan-centric franchise in the NHL resides at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. In their fledgling nine years, as [...]

Are Pronger and Neil Just What The Habs Need??

There are various reports that the Anaheim Ducks might be willing to trade Chris Pronger. Also that the Ottawa Senators could be sellers this year. With this in mind, could Chris Neil be available? Could those players be the extra toughness the Montreal Canadiens need to make a good push this year?

Half way through the season, who have been the studs and who the duds?

A little bit over 42 games have gone by for most teams, usually at this point we’re getting ready for the playoff push, and it is on this time that we come to see which players or teams have been either surprises or disappointments.
Let’s start with the players:
Who’s been great this year:

Are The Habs Preparing A Trade?

The Montreal Canadiens have played their young talent for all of the pre-season games. The youngsters played so well that there are rumours that the Habs could be preparing a trade or two.

Fernandez working hard towards return to Bruins lineup

The Boston Bruins lost Manny Fernandez to 78 games last season after the goalie had knee surgery. Tim Thomas did admirably filling in for the injured veteran, but the Bruins need Fernandez back not only for this season but to mold future Boston goalies.

The Habs lose Ryder, Streit and Danis and perhaps even the hopes for Sundin.

So Michael Ryder is gone for good with The Boston Bruins and Mark Streit and Yann Danis left for the New-York Islanders. What do all these players have in common? None of them received an offer from The Montreal Canadiens. But wait, Mats Sundin did. Too bad this guy is l.o.s.t.!

Draft Day Frenzy

The 2008 entry draft is two days away. At this point too many things are happening to believe no trades will take place. Here are some final rumours.

What The Habs Should Look For In The Off Season Part 2

The season is over for the Montreal Canadiens, today the team reported to the Bell Centre for the last time this season to clear out their lockers. Who should the Habs be interested in for next season?

Habs Breakdown Part 1

The Montreal Canadiens are officially out of the post season, here’s a breakdown on the reasons why I believe why they didn’t go any further.

Habs Lost On Saturday, And Again Tonight. Flyers Lead Series 2-1

The Montreal Canadiens lost on Saturday to the Philadelphia Flyers, and once again tonight. The Habs are playing well enough to win, unfortunately for the Habs, Martin Biron is playing the best hockey of his life, and Carey Price seems out of it.

Habs Beat Flyers

The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 in overtime tonight at the Bell Centre, in doing so the Habs take game no.1 and lead the series 1-0.

Habs To Play Flyers In Round 2

The Montreal Canadiens will play the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round of the play-offs, this after the Flyers beat the Washington Capitals in overtime 3-2 tonight to take the series 4-3.

Habs Shut-Out Bruins 5-0, And Take Series 4-3

The Montreal Canadiens beat the Boston Bruins 5-0 at the Bell Centre tonight, in doing so the Habs also take the series 4-3, the fans finally saw the real Habs.

Habs Snooze, And Lose

The Montreal Canadiens once again lost to the Boston Bruins, this time 5-4 in Boston. Saku Koivu, and Francis Bouillon both came back tonight, it seemed to spark the Habs, obviously not enough.

Habs Make Some Call-Ups

RDS is reporting that the Montreal Canadiens have made some call-ups for the play-offs, it was announced this morning, perhaps this will wake up some players for the next game.
