Islanders Week In Review

I’ll be updating this column weekly, tracking the season of the New York Islanders. The big story thus far has been the inactivity of franchise goalie Rick Dipietro. He finally received his first start of the year against Florida on Saturday night and let in a goal early on. However, he settled down afterwards and played reasonably well, keeping the Islanders in the game.

A Few Notes from the Season Opener

So Habs fans, the Centennial season has commenced! We’ve been waiting a while for this, and here we are…too bad Ryan Miller and the Sabres had to go spoil it. Not to fear, fellow believers, not to fear. It’s one game, decided by a shootout-there’s no shootouts in playoffs. Besides, we all know Carey Price’s track record in shootout-he’ll be fine.

Habs Poised? Season Preview

The Montreal Canadiens wrapped up their pre-season yesterday with a loss to the Minnesota Wild and made their final cuts save one. It’s now, or maybe later?

Habs Bounce Sabres

The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Buffalo Sabres by the score of 3-1 tonight, by doing so, the Habs eliminated the Sabres from getting in the play-offs, and have tied the Pittsburgh Penguins atop the Eastern Conference with 102 points.

Pens Make It More Difficult For Habs To Take Conference

The Montreal Canadiens are seemingly going for the conference title, however, with the Pittsburgh Penguins winning tonight, it makes it a little more difficult for the Habs as the Pens now have two more wins then the Habs.

Habs Govern Sens

The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Ottawa Senators 3-0 tonight, by doing so, the Habs clinched the Northeast division, and have assured themselves of at least second spot in the Eastern Conference.

Habs Need One More Win, Sens Lose To Bruins

With the Ottawa Senators losing to the Boston Bruins 4-0 today, the Montreal Canadiens only need to win one more game this season to claim the Northeast division.

Habs Come Back And Beat Sabres 4-3 In Overtime

The Montreal Canadiens played a horrible game tonight, they came out flat, and with no energy, a sign that they didn’t play for three days, but they still managed to beat the Buffalo Sabres in overtime.

Habs Need 3 Wins, Or, 2 Wins And An Ottawa Loss

The Montreal Canadiens need to win three more games, or win two more coupled with an Ottawa Senators loss to win the Northeast division.

The Famous “Loser” Point

The NHL did something a few years ago, they created a system that makes a team which loses in overtime get a point, I find this to be absurd, but it is making the play-off race exciting.

Habs Clinch By Beating The Sens 7-5

The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Ottawa Senators by the score of 7-5 tonight, and by doing so have assured themselves of making the play-offs, and the Habs also padded the division lead by two points making their lead on Ottawa now 7 points.
