Are Pronger and Neil Just What The Habs Need??

There are various reports that the Anaheim Ducks might be willing to trade Chris Pronger. Also that the Ottawa Senators could be sellers this year. With this in mind, could Chris Neil be available? Could those players be the extra toughness the Montreal Canadiens need to make a good push this year?

Are Hockey Goons Being Overpaid and Over Supported?

Recently, there was an article in the National Post on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 regarding hockey goons. They tackled the question of fighters like Jarod Boll and George Parros being overpaid and over supported. Dr. John P. Haisken-DeNew, an economist at the Ruhr and Pestphalian Institute for Economic Research concluded research that showed some players who fight a lot may not be getting points but are still being paid a substantial amount of money. Basically he is saying they are being paid to fight. He thought the players who fought would be penalized financially but this is not the case.

The tough-guy in the NHL is usually called upon to control other players who like to take liberties with their team-mates, however these players should not wear visors on their helmets.

Komisarek Out For Two, Or Three Weeks

RDS is reporting that Montreal Canadiens blue-liner Mike Komisarek will be side-lined for a period of 2, or 3 weeks after being repeatedly hit by the Boston Bruins during Thursday night’s game.

Panthers want toughness, skill in enforcer

Steve Gorten of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and Brian Biggane of the Palm Beach Post report that the Florida Panthers are continuing their efforts to acquire an enforcer.
