Rangers Versus Leafs – Game Impressions

It’s tough to watch the Rangers when you live in Ottawa (still working on getting Centre Ice). However, I discovered that Leafs TV online is still offering free online streaming of games, including the broadcast. That’s how I enjoyed watching a tense 1-0 Rangers shootout win against a relentless Toronto Maple Leafs team last night.

New York Rangers – A Brief Preview

The reason I’m going to be brief about this particular preview is because what I saw of the Rangers through the preseason, and then what I saw in the back to back 2-1 wins over Tampa in Praha were enough to set my brain into a tailspin… Totally dominated in the games that didn’t matter, and totally dominant in the ones that actually counted for something, albeit played in an ill-contrived attempt at gimmicky marketing masked in the “gesture of good-will to the nations that feed us their best talent” setting…

Round 2, Match-Ups

The second round of the play-offs will be as good, if not better than the first round. With all the interesting match-ups for the next round, it’s hard to say which one will be the best to watch.

Rangers Clinch, gunning for 4th.

Jaromir Jagr looked like a 29 year old last night with two one-timer PP goals within 3 minutes of each other. Martin Straka also added the dagger 7 minutes into the third with a deflected slap-shot from just above the slot as the Rangers played to a solid 3-0 Win, earning Henrik Lundqvist his 10th NHL-leading Shutout. Here are my thoughts on last night, and tonights 7 PM matchup on MSG at MSG…

Panthers’ Playoff Hopes

Thoughts and speculation on the Florida Panthers playoffs hopes.

Rangers Spring Break goes wrong

The Rangers spring break down to Florida for two weekend games with the Panthers and Lightning didn’t go as planned…

Rangers grab 2 pts, tie Senators

The Rangers got out of Buffalo once again through an OT and a SO with 2 points. This brings their point streak to 13 games and also ties them for 5th in the conference with the Ottawa Senators.

Lundqvist runs the show, Sabres up Tonight.

The Rangers snuck by the Bruins Sunday with a 1-0 SO win at the Garden thanks mostly in part to Henrik Lundquist. The Sabres are up tonight as they travel to Western, NY searching for 2 points.

Islanders put in their place

The Rangers get a regulation win against the Islanders on the back half of their home and home series to grab 6th place in the Eastern Conference.

Battle of New York, Part 1…Isles beat Rangers 4-3

It’s been a long time since hockey has been relevant in New York… but don’t tell that to Islanders and Rangers fans. Every time these two step on the ice against one another, fans of each team treat the contest as if it were Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

Burn the Game Tape

I wouldn’t even be posting if the Rangers had lost, but I’m here because of Steve Valiquette, Brendan Shanahan, and Nigel Dawes. That game did wonders for my blood pressure, and it was a great game to watch.

Two More Points

Well, my post-Montreal collapse predictions weren’t so crazy after all eh? The Rangers are 3-0 since their OTL in Montreal, and to my credit I predicted 3 wins, but only the 5-0 win over Florida at the Garden counts as a “spanking.” We are now into March on the calendar. This is a month where the Rangers play 10 out of 14 games against Atlantic foes. If we can get out of this month with more than a winning record, we should have a playoff spot locked up. All that starts Sunday @ the Garden when the Blueshirts have a brunch with the Flyers at 12:30 on NBC. But enough looking ahead, here are my notes and thoughts on last night’s 4-2 win in Raleigh.

Lundqvist, Boyle, Jagr, leery GMs, and Penguins

Is Henrik Lundqvist still talking contract with the Rangers? Do the Rangers need Dan Boyle to run their power-play? Will Jaromir Jagr leave New York before the deadline? Are GM unwilling to spend a King’s ransom on rentals? What would Dany Sabourin and Ty Conklin get the Penguins?

Hossa, Blackhawks, Lundqvist, Campbell, and Senators

Have the Thrashers allowed the Canadiens to talk to Hossa? Will the Blackhawks make any trade before the deadline? Are the rangers close to signing Henrik Lundqvist? Did Brian Campbell turn down a $5 million offer from Sabres? Do the Senators need a goaltender?

Maple Leafs, Hejda, Liles, Selanne, and Lundqvist

Which Maple Leafs players are untradeable? Are the Blue Jackets trying to re-sign Jan Hejda? What are the Hurricanes offering for John-Michael Liles? When will Teemu Selanne return to the NHL? How much money is Henrik Lundqvist looking for?
