With Nikolai Zherdev wanting to go and play in the KHL earlier this season while still under contract, and now the rumors that Jaromir Jagr might play for the Edmonton Oilers this season, what’s going on?

Tragic Loss For Rangers

The New York Rangers exploded out of the gate and have vaulted to a 5-0 record in the NHL’s regular season. But while they have yet to face a loss on the ice, there was some tragic news for the team yesterday when it was reported that top prospect Alexei Cherepanov had collapsed during a game in the Russian Kontinental Hockey League. Isles beat Rangers 4-3 to Close Out Season

The New York Islanders achieved a measure of revenge last night as they gutted out a hard-fought shootout victory over the New York Rangers, 4-3.

Rangers Clinch, gunning for 4th.

Jaromir Jagr looked like a 29 year old last night with two one-timer PP goals within 3 minutes of each other. Martin Straka also added the dagger 7 minutes into the third with a deflected slap-shot from just above the slot as the Rangers played to a solid 3-0 Win, earning Henrik Lundqvist his 10th NHL-leading Shutout. Here are my thoughts on last night, and tonights 7 PM matchup on MSG at MSG…

Rangers Blank Isles 3-0

It really doesn’t get much worse than having your hated rivals clinch a playoff spot by beating your team on it’s home ice… and shutting them out, no less.

Is Young Good Enough?

Is young good enough? Well, having a young team in the NHL means that you are going with the future, one needs some good veterans on the team, but young is the way to go.

Rangers, Blackhawks, Blake, Emery, Pitkanen, Sanderson, DiPietro, Theodore, deadline non-trades

Do Jaromir Jagr and Brendan Shanahan need strong playoff performances to remain with the Rangers? Is this the last season for Martin Havlat and Nikolai Khabibulin with the Blackhawks? Does Rob Blake want to play in the NHL past this season? Should Senators buy out Ray Emery? Are the Oilers planning on dealing Joni Pitkanen? Will Geoff Sanderson call it quits? Would islanders trade Rick DiPietro? Which teams may go after Jose Theodore if he becomes a UFA? What deals fell through at the deadline?

Jagr, Undecided

New York Rangers pending unrestricted free agent forward Jaromir Jagr tells John Dellapina of the New York Daily News he doesn’t know what his playing future holds.

Jagr, York, Laraque, and Tanabe

Do the Rangers want to bring back Jaromir Jagr? Is Mike York playing for his next contract? Is Georges Laraque on his way out of Pittsburgh? Will Hurricanes buy out David Tanabe?

Jagr likely to become UFA

New York Rangers forward Jaromir Jagr tells Larry Brooks of the New York Post that he’s fine with becoming an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Lundqvist runs the show, Sabres up Tonight.

The Rangers snuck by the Bruins Sunday with a 1-0 SO win at the Garden thanks mostly in part to Henrik Lundquist. The Sabres are up tonight as they travel to Western, NY searching for 2 points.

A Boring Ranger Win

A solid 5-0 spanking of the Panthers along with one of the easiest shutouts a goaltender could get allowed the Rangers to grab 6th place in the East Sunday night at MSG.
