Season Preview: Kings Exit Cellar

All too often I lament “It’s the Kings” and “There’s always next year”, but I do think it is inconceivable that the Kings will finish in the cellar again. A new coach, young talent, and even younger prospects bring much hope for the franchise. And hope is really all Kings fans have this season. It is doubtful the Kings will be able make a run at the playoffs but they will show what they have in store for the future. As the preseason dwindles down to a close the Kings roster is gradually taking shape. Each day a prospect is sent back to Juniors or the AHL another veteran player sighs in relief of not being placed on waivers (unless your name is Matt Ellis).

What could have been for the Kings…

Last week-end, Los Angeles Kings President and GM Dean Lombardi told a group of the club’s season-ticket holders about losing out on acquiring a number of high-profile players, reports Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times.

Blue Jackets, Bernier, Avery, and Lecavalier

Will the Blue Jackets sign, or deal for a front-line center? Did the Sharks offer Steve Bernier to the Rangers? How much are the Rangers are willing to pay Sean Avery? Are the Lightning planning on re-signing Vincent Lecavalier long-term?

Crawford: Kings not shopping Frolov, Brown

Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times reports that the Los Angeles Kings are dismissing rumors they are shopping forwards Alexander Frolov and Dustin Brown.

After being waived, is Cloutier that much closer to being traded?

Los Angeles Kings GM Dean Lombardi tells Matthew Kredell of the Los Angeles Daily News that waiving goaltender Dan Cloutier was done to get his game back on track rather than explore trade possibilities.
