Attitude Adjustments, du Jour

”Goaltending is a normal job, sure. How would you like it in your job if every time you made a small mistake, a red light went on over your desk and 15,000 people stood up and yelled at you.” – Jacques Plante
Pride is good in small doses, but never something to depend on. With last [...]

Dallas Stars Season Preview: Making It Happen

The Stars have a tough job this season. Last season, they came closer than they had in a long time to winning the Cup. The Stars were known as a “one-and-done” team, one of those teams that makes it to the playoffs consistently, but can’t get past the first round for whatever reason. I watched last year’s run with hope and hesitation, knowing what had happened in seasons before and not wanting to get my hopes too high. They went above and beyond what I, and many others, expected. Owner Tom Hicks has said that there’s a good feeling in the locker room this year, a feeling of hope, a feeling of strength, a feeling that they have what it takes to win it all. The team overcame adversity with injuries to key players, but that ended up helping in the long run, giving younger players a chance to shine and get some serious NHL ice time.

Round 2, Match-Ups

The second round of the play-offs will be as good, if not better than the first round. With all the interesting match-ups for the next round, it’s hard to say which one will be the best to watch.

Here yesterday, gone today

The 2006-2007 NHL trade deadline had just as many transactions, but few of the superstar names. This year, with over 25 trades made in a day, and a busy month of February, some teams scored big–others, not so much. We look at some of the better deals and how helpful they will be.

Stars are not shopping Turco

Dallas Stars co-GM Les Jackson tells Tracey Myers of the Dallas Star Telegram that the club is not shopping goalie Marty Turco.

30-team round-up

Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch take a look at the situation facing all 30 NHL as the February 26 trade deadline approaches.

Tortorella: Lightning forwards not going anywhere

Tampa Bay Lightning head coach John Tortorella tells Damian Cristodero of the St. Petersburg Times that he believes it would be foolish to trade forwards Vincent Lecavalier, Martin St. Louis, Brad Richards.

Canadiens to land Lecavalier? Maybe not

Despite talk to the contrary, The Montreal Gazette’s Pat Hickey believes that there’s is little to no chance that Tampa Bay Lightning forward Vincent Lecavalier will be traded to the Montreal Canadiens.

Stars deny Turco-for-St. Louis talks

Dallas Stars co-GM Les Jackson tells Mike Heika of The Dallas Morning News that he has no intentions of trading goalie Marty Turco for Tampa Bay Lightning forward Martin St. Louis.

St. Louis for Turco, Forsberg, Marleau, and Hossa

Does the Martin St. Louis for Marty Turco trade rumor make any sense? Will Peter Forsberg play in the NHL ever again? Which Sharks forward are the Maple Leafs after? Are the Thrashers and Marian Hossa close to a deal?

St. Louis for Turco swap unlikely

Mike Heika of The Dallas Morning News suggests that the rumored trade talks between the Dallas Stars and the Tampa Bay Lightning don’t make much sense.

St. Louis for Turco, Torres & Stoll, and Samsonov

Are the Lightning and Stars talking trade? Would the Oilers move Raffi Torres? Is Sergei Samsonov on the outs in Chicago?

Stars waiting for new year to make deals?

According to Mike Heika of The Dallas Morning News, the Dallas Stars will have to remain patient in making a trade.
