Minnesota Wild 2008-2009 Season Preview

Here’s a quick rundown off who came and went, along with their scoring numbers from last year.

Nashville Predators Season Preview – Which Year Will This Be?

The 2008-2009 version of the Nashville Predators are ready to take the ice and prepare for a return to the playoffs for the fifth year in a row. As the NHL ad campaign says, “Could this be the year?”

NHL In Europe?

A report given by the Globe and Mail stated that the NHL has publicly announced the possibility of expanding to teams overseas. Seemingly overnight, this speculation has spawned garrulous debate about possible expansion; from newspaper articles to blog pages across the continent. Although they do not expect that this expansion has an adequate timeline, the NHL expects the possibility of it materializing within the next 10 years.

A little rambling about the ‘09 NHL Winter Classic and Franchise Relocation.

RFAs, Tanabe, and the Blues

Which RFAs will get re-signed before they hit the market? Can the Hurricanes buy out David Tanabe? Will the Blues seek to improve their offense this summer?

What could have been for the Kings…

Last week-end, Los Angeles Kings President and GM Dean Lombardi told a group of the club’s season-ticket holders about losing out on acquiring a number of high-profile players, reports Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times.

Ice Girls: Where did they come from?

I’m not sure where this trend started, but I assume it must have been one of the southern teams looking for a gimmick to attract fans to their games. Now, more and more NHL teams are employing the hockey version of cheerleaders.

Here yesterday, gone today

The 2006-2007 NHL trade deadline had just as many transactions, but few of the superstar names. This year, with over 25 trades made in a day, and a busy month of February, some teams scored big–others, not so much. We look at some of the better deals and how helpful they will be.

Hlavac heads to Nashville

Sundin, Ducks, scouts, Marleau, and Predators

Are the Wild going after Mats Sundin? Do the Ducks intend to be big players at the deadline? Which team have the Stars been scouting lately? Will Patrick Marleau get dealt? Are the Predators looking for forwards?
