Minnesota Wild 2008-2009 Season Preview

Last season the Minnesota Wild won their first ever Northwest Division title but were ousted in the first round of the playoffs by the Colorado Avalanche. The big question for the Minnesota Wild this season is the whether or not they picked up enough goal scorers to make up for the players they lost in free agency. Here’s a quick rundown off who came and went, along with their scoring numbers from last year.

Walz, Recchi, Sydor, and Bouwmeester

Is Wes Walz about to call it quits? Are the Penguins shopping Mark Recchi? Can the Penguins move Darryl Sydor? How are contract talks between the Panthers and Jay Bouwmeester?

What’s up with Walz?

John Sippley of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that many within the Minnesota Wild organization are not aware when and if forward Wes Walz will return to the club.

Wild in need of centers

In the Minnesota Star Tribune, Michael Russo reports that Minnesota Wild GM Doug Risebrough is in dire need of a centerman for his club.
