Flyers Lose Two More Players
TSN is reporting that the Philadelphia Flyers have lost Derian Hatcher for the remainder of the season, and R.J. Umberger for two weeks.
Wow, like the Flyers needed that to happen, they only have a one point lead over the Buffalo Sabres for the final play-off spot, and the Flyers are falling fast. Will they be able to hang on to the last play-off spot, or will all their injuries prevent them from doing just that? With their play of late, and now losing two more players, it will undoubtedly be difficult.
Anything can and usually will happen, look at the Florida Panthers for example, they were lost, and counted out by the trade deadline by most people, and the Washington Capitals, who have hung in all year, what about the Buffalo Sabres, they have played their best hockey of the season lately to be within 1 point of the Flyers.
It’s not impossible that the Flyers will hold onto the last spot, it could happen, even if they just lost two more players, the team could regroup and play well until the end of the season, remember, they don’t have to be excellent, just decent until the end, and who knows, anything is possible, Buffalo has lost some players also recently, so they could drop as well.
Whatever the outcome of this current season is for the Flyers, their fans have to be a little disappointed, they expected the team to be better than they are, and with their acquisitions before the season started, and and the trade deadline, they should be better than they are, but with the injuries hampering any hopes of climbing out of the final spot to get a better play-off seating, the Flyers are going downhill fast.

Ironic that the team that cost so many players a chunk of the season is now crumbling under the injury bug…
