Habs Down Bruins 4-2

The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Boston Bruins 4-2 tonight, although it wasn’t all fun and games as Mike Komisarek left the game in the first period with a lower body injury.

The goal scorers for Montreal were, Alex Kovalev, from Andrei Kostitsyn, and Josh Gorges, the second goal was scored by Alex Kovalev, unassisted, the third by Michael Ryder, with assists from Saku Koivu, and Guillaume Latendresse, and finally Andrei Kostitsyn, from Alex Kovalev, and Mark Streit. Carey Price had a strong performance with 34 saves on the night, while the Habs had 30 shots on Tim Thomas.

It was a hard hitting affair for most of the game, and the Bruins second goal should not have counted as it was clear that Price was interfered with, but hey, as usual the refs mess up again, luckily it didn’t matter this time. The Habs played well enough to win, however they are capable of playing better. This game was the Kovalev show as he scored two goals, and had one assist, giving him 77 points in 75 games.

Mike Komisarek left the game in the first period with a lower body injury, suggested reports say that Komisarek may have hurt his lower back. Hopefully the injury is not a severe one as Komisarek is playing great this year and would be a big loss for the Habs if he remains out of the line-up for too long, it would be unfortunate for the Habs to lose his services for too long, especially if he can’t play in the play-offs.

The Canadiens now have 92 points, and have regained the lead in the east, and in goals for in the league, unfortunately the New Jersey Devils have two games in hand on the Habs, but the Habs have a 3 point lead in their division over the Ottawa Senators.

The Habs next opponent is the Bruins again on Saturday, this time in Montreal, hopefully the out-come will be the same as everyday the race gets tighter, the Habs have 7 games remaining including Saturday’s game.

The Bruins scoring went like this, Mark Stuart, from Shane Hnidy, and Chuck Kobasew, and lastly, Dennis Wideman, from Petteri Nokelainen, and P.J. Axelsson.
