Habs Lose To Blues In A Shoot-out

The Montreal Canadiens lost to the St. Louis Blues 4-3 in a shoot-out tonight, in a game which was not well played by the Habs, they didn’t play horribly, but not well enough to win either.

The Habs got goals from, Chris Higgins, assisted by Sergei Kostitsyn, and Mikhail Grabovski, another by Saku Koivu, assisted by Chris Higgins, and Michael Ryder, ans lastly by Mikhail Grabovski, assisted by Sergei Kostitsyn. The Habs scored three goals, unfortunately they let the Blues take them to a shoot-out, and win the game. Considering that the blues had scored 54 less goals than the Habs, it should have been 2 points in the bank, not easily, but still the Habs should have put this one in the bank.

To the Blues credit, they came out firing and hitting the Habs, the Blues also beat the Habs to the puck for the first two periods. However, the Habs out-shot the Blues 30-28, but still were not able to solve Manny Legace more than three times. The Canadiens took the Blues for granted, and were probably already thinking of their home-and-home series against the Boston Bruins on Thursday, and Saturday. Now the Habs have to beat the Bruins in both games to possibly clinch a play-off spot, luckily the Canadiens managed to get one point in the standings.

Either the Canadiens were thinking about the Bruins and not the Blues, or they are already thinking perhaps that they have clinched the play-offs, or won their division, whatever they were thinking, it wasn’t tonight’s game, as they should have beaten a team which is fourteenth in the west. The Blues are not a good enough team to beat the Habs yet, even-though they have some young talent, they are not there yet.

The Canadiens now face the Bruins for the next two games to finish out the series against them this year. The Bruins have lost all six meetings this year against the Habs, let’s hope the law of averages doesn’t kick in yet, and the Habs lose both games against the Bruins. The Canadiens are still in good standing for now, however losing the next two games will not be very good as the New Jersey Devils, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Ottawa Senators are all close behind. Funny how when a team has a possibility of clinching the play-offs, they lose sight of what matters, why is that, all they have to do is what they have been doing all year.

Carey Price will most likely get the start in both games against the Bruins, hopefully he will come out hungry, and win both of them as the team really needs these next few wins to clinch. let’s hope the Canadiens are better against the Bruins and don’t take the fact that they’ve won all the previous meetings against them this year loosely, as the Bruins even deprived of some players, do not want to lose 2 more games against the Habs this year.
