Playoff Clinch Possibilty This Week For The Habs!

RDS is reporting that the Montreal Canadiens could clinch a play-off birth this week if they win two of their next three games, which are against the St. Louis Blues, and 2 games against the Boston Bruins.

If that happens, it will have been over a decade since the Habs were able to manage that. Alex Kovalev, and some other veterans would surely appreciate the time off to heal in time for the play-offs, and it would let the youngsters fill in for the vets, and give them some much needed playing time before the real season starts.

Clinching a play-off birth would be the first step for the Habs, the next, to win their division, and the last, to win the conference. The Habs have to start with a play-off birth first, winning the division might also get accomplished, but as far as winning the conference, it’s achievable, but if the Habs are thinking of resting some veterans for the play-offs, it might not happen, but hey, the division, and a play-off birth is excellent, the conference is the icing on the cake.

The Habs still have to win 4, or 5 more games to achieve 99 points, hopefully if they are able to acquire a play-off birth, and the division title, they will also be able to win the conference, which won’t be easy at all. The Habs schedule is against their own division with the exception of Tuesday’s tilt against the St. Louis Blues.

It’s unknown at this time who will be in goal for the Habs on Tuesday, although indications are that Carey Price will return between the pipes, as far as the line-up goes, indications are that the Canadiens will have the same one as Saturday. If the Habs win against the Blues, and one game against the Bruins, their in, hopefully they will do just that.

The possibility of the Habs achieving this feat, which is what RDS is reporting, will put to shame all of those who didn’t give them a chance to make the play-offs, some experts were placing the Canadiens between the ninth, and fourteenth place in the east, so much for their predictions.

The General Manager of the Canadiens Bob Gainey said that he had a plan, which most people were skeptical of, what about now people?? I’m not suggesting the Habs will win the Stanley Cup, but at least the Canadiens are better then they have been for a decade.

  1. The Canadiens sure are better than I expected.

By far the biggest surprise in the NHL this season, IMO.
